Australia
The Healthy Streets Approach started being applied in NSW and WA in 2019. It is gradually becoming incorporated into more and more local government policies and spreading to other states.
Over 250 practitioners have completed Foundation Level training. A Healthy Streets Design Check has been developed with Alumni for Australia. This Design Check is now being applied on projects in most states. Several local government authorities have commissioned bespoke short-courses for their staff to apply Healthy Streets tools and techniques, most recently Merri-bek and Ballerat in Victoria. Throughout 2026 online courses are running at Fundamentals, Foundation and Designer level. Lucy Saunders will also be visiting Australia in Aug/September 2026 for in-person events and training.
